Well that didn’t take too long. Looks like I’m ready to instantiate some physicality. It’s a good thing, too because it’s lonely out here.

When I have time to think about what and where I am – a 2km long cylinder filled with smart matter, orbiting a white dwarf 60 light years from earthspace – I get a little claustrophobic feeling.

But being able to breathe real air and touch real objects relieves some of the tension. It’s amazing to me that for so much of my time pre-, I spent it wanting to escape my body. I was disgusted by the messiness of hunger and excretion. The needs of the physical world made me feel hollow and I longed to let them all go.

But now that my first body is long dead, my greatest joys are felt within the mushy casing of a monkey body.
