Rescue Operation...Sort Of
Grasshopper stood in front of Brass Eagle, barely standing against the sterilized wall. He was breathing heavily. Brass Eagle rushed over to him.
Grasshopper looked up and smiled, but it was forced. He was in pain.
“Hold on, I’ll get you out of here. The exit’s only a few halls away.”
Eagle threw one of Grasshopper’s arms around his neck and hauled him through the hallways. He didn’t care how loud his footsteps were now, he just had to make it out.
“Eagle,” Grasshopper murmured.
“The tank…my double’s still in the tank.”
“It’s okay, we just have to get you out of here. We have everything set up for our escape. Once we find the others, we’ll leave and it’ll all be taken care of.”
Grasshopper didn’t seem to register anything, but they limped away unhindered. Finally, the doors swung open, Eagle and Grasshopper stumbing through. An alarm blared like a blowhorn somewhere within the building.
“Let’s go,” said Brass Eagle. They kept walking.
