Laughter

I was still breathless, even as he turned the corner and walked out of sight.
Something fizzed not so deep inside of me. It burned out the confusion and hate; it sparked a handful of hope.
Sitting on the park bench, I tilted my face up into the moon’s light. The sky was a mysterious shade of dark blue. My favorite time of day. I closed my eyes and soaked in the silence, of which I replaced with Tom’s voice whispering those clear, strong words that meant so much to me.
The chemical lit a match and struck a dynamite load of happiness…
I openned my eyes to see the glowing moon and shimmering stars looking right back at me. My mouth popped open and this weird sound came out. It reminded me of the girls in school. I finally realized what it was-laughter. I was laughing.
At first I shoved my fist in my mouth, thinking something was horribly wrong with me. But that couldn’t stop it. No, soon my whole frame was shaking with this giddiness that I hadn’t felt in the longest time.
