The Good Old Days

Stuck inside,
I do as I’m told.
Watching the rain as it falls
But i have a cold.

Mother says no.
But look at that,
A huge, giant puddle
just waiting to splat

Maybe i can sneak out
I’ll be quick as a flash
I’m already sick
And it’s just one splash

So I sneak outside
And jump in the rain
But then I start to cough
and oh the pain

I cough into the house
While I rub my throat
As soon as she saw me
mother grabbed me a coat

She put her hand to my head
As I started to worry
Am I going to get in trouble?
I better say sorry.

But then she asked
As she looked at me
Laughing, “Was it worth it?”
“Totally.”
