Ficlets

Sarcasm?

The rest of the week I was so preoccupied with Blake I didn’t notice anything else. Until Friday, that is. Blake had a before school meeting and I was wandering the halls waiting for my BFFs to show up. That’s when I saw Andy at his locker. It suddenly occurred to me that since Monday we hadn’t talked… at all. Usually he walks over when I’m at my locker says hi, wassup, not much, etc. (The typical teenage conversation) and then I’d be surrounded by my squealing friends and, like any guy in his right mind, he’d walk away to talk to his guy friends. But for the past four days, this little morning ritual had not been completed. I felt a little guilty that I must have been ignoring him so I walked over to (hopefully) fix the problem.
“Hey Andy.”
He just looked at me for a second, “Um, hi.”
“Wassup?”
“I just asked Kitty to homecoming.”
I blinked confusedly and stared at him, “Oh, um cool. That’s great.”
“Did I catch you off-guard?”
“Well guess I was expecting ‘not much,’” I laughed nervously.
“Right.”
