Shoeless Joe's Ficlets Challenge
I’ve been reading Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella. It’s a great book and I highly recommend it, especially if you’re a fan of the movie, Field of Dreams.
Anyway, the book gave me an idea for a Ficlets challenge. The book is a fantasy in which the main character, who shares a last name with the author, meets and interacts with a number of his heroes, including J.D. Salinger, Archibald “Moonlight” Graham, and the titular “Shoeless” Joe Jackson. Time was not a factor, as these three came from different eras in history.
So.
The question is, if you could spend time with one of your heroes, who would it be and what would you do? This could be a literary hero like Salinger, a sports hero like Jackson, a historical figure like Abraham Lincoln, even a fictional hero. You could meet in the current era or in their own time.
The only caveat is that you have to be doing something together, and not just having a Q&A. So how about it? I hear Edgar Allen Poe’s a good guy to have a drink with…
