Honesty
“But, Jeffery, I have not been completely honest with you, I am afraid.” The man grinned after he spoke this phrase. He spoke again, “You see, I am not a kindly old man that is willing to teach any survivor of my test magic. You have a purpose. To put it bluntly, you are my tool. I will use you to retrieve some items, along with the small side task of exacting some revenge. The latter task will be simple once you gain your powers. After you have served your purpose, you may use your gift as you see fit, but, know that the task to gain your freedom will not be an easy one! “
Jeffery decided that he had learned enough of magic and history. He had heard enough. “Please, old man, cast the spell of repossession on me so I may begin my training!” The man laughed loudly. “So eager! Never have I met one like you, Jeffery. Very well, if you think you have learned enough, I suppose I will cast the spell. But remember, after I do, there is no going back. Do you still accept?”
Jeffery’s face hardened. “I do,” he said.
