hushed questions

“Stay for the night”, he wispered.

It took me a minute to understand, what he actually had just said. Moving my head, to observe his profile, I couldn’t find anything, that looked like he was joking. I felt his thumb gently stroking over the back of my hand. “Excuse me?”

Finally he turned his head towards me, smiling at me with those dark brown eyes.

My mind went blank and all I could do, was looking into his face. I felt like falling into a deep, cold darkness. Was it just me? Or why couldn’t I say something.

In fact, he wouldn’t let me say anything after all, bending over to hush a small, warm kiss on my lips. I was petrified, leaving him with the wrong impression. “Something wrong?”

He was still close and I felt his warm breath brushing over my face. I remembered this feeling. It had woken me up, just a minute ago.

I tried to calm down, smiling at him. “I’m fine”, I assured him, leaning my face into his hand, which had touched my cheek and was now leading into another, longer kiss.
