My Love Will Laugh With Me

Dean screamed and clawed at his own ears. The radio spat static back at him. He punched the dash, and the thing went quiet. Unable to look at the macabre scene outside the car he only examined the scant cuts on his knuckles. A guitar whined mournfully from the radio, followed by a driving beat on the drums.

I see a red door and I wanted it painted black

Dean keeled over the floor of the passenger seat and retched.

I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

All was black. The red-orange glow of flames disappeared from the inside of the car. The pelting rain stopped. The car drove on, ignoring the lack of pressure from Dean’s foot.

I look inside myself and see my heart is black

The rumbling of the car began to quiet. The shaking slackened. Dean sat up, his head a brick of pain.

It’s not easy facin up when your whole world is black

And with that the radio went silent. The car was silent. Everything outside was silent. Everything within was silent. Dean prayed for a sound.
