Talbot Regards the Reboot at the End of the World

Well, we’re all here. Crazy, huh?

I’m enjoying the ectosun with forty billion of my best friends when there’s another flash. A dark flash.

From miles around, tiny particles of sand and dust and little droplets of water emerge from the ether and arrange themselves into a growing lump in the air above our heads. As it increases in size we begin to notice the faint shapes on its surface… Hey, that looks like Europe! Isn’t that Michigan?

Eventually it’s large enough that we can make out the pyramids of Egypt and the Great Wall, and then our own cities, and homes, and bedrooms, and pajamas, and teddy bears.

The flash returns, with finality!

Well, it was fun while it lasted. At least the universe had the good sense to restart on a Saturday. I hit the snooze button and roll onto my stomach, burying my head under the pillow again.
