The Uglies Series (Challenge/Discussion)

I absolutley LOVED the Uglies series. I read the first 3 in the summer, and didn’t here about Extras until I read this challenge. I just finished reading it a couple days ago.

I think that we are well on are way to having uglies and pretties, with all the ways we can change how we look now. I don’t think it will be the same as the books, but maybe similar. Still, I hope not. And I think there will be things like hoverboards and hovercams. Those I would like.

As to face-ranks, i don’t know if the future will have those. It’s an interesting system, but I don’t like it much. Too much is set on how popular you are. It’s like the whole world is one big junior high. I like the Sly Girls’ way of thinking instead.

Didn’t it say how the Rusties died out in one of the books? I thought it said that everyone died through a disease or chemical released in the gas we use in our cars. Which I think is very probable because of how much we use our cars.

This is an awesome series, I reccomend it to everyone.

    omg. i love this series! i was so sad after what happened to zane in specials , [i won’t say what for those who havent read it]

    I know, I love it too! It was sad about Zane. I asked for the fourth one in the trilogy, lol, christmas, and i got a borders gift card, so I’ll be getting it 2morrow. I can’t wait!

    Well I don’t want to ruin the fourth in the trilogy, so I won’t. But if you read the first three you can’t not read the fourth! ;) Even if you don’t, we’ll all still love you, we’ll think you are incomplete, yet we will all love you. What happened to all the people, is a passing statement of how an oil based germ caused firey explosions burning everyone and everything that used gas/oil/or products thereof. I think it’s during their visit to the Rusty Ruins, when Tally peeked into the car with the skelton.

    Okay, just found something on faceranks from Westerfeld himself: “But you guys know all this. You’re the first generation to grow up with the quasi-reputation economies that are Facebook, Myspace, and Google, all of which show us who has the most friends, links, or comments.” Hence, Face Ranks. I hear the students discussing “how many friends” they have. I used to think they were crazy until I found out they were talking about MySpace. They even argue over who has more friends. Crazy. But I’m old. ;)
