“Mon Dieu, American women are très amusant! But to answer your question, beautiful Emily, no I am not gay. I am a very, very happy heterosexual.”

I felt silly, suddenly. And also really, really happy.

I settled back into my seat and looked around me at the buildings and the people who meandered up and down the streets lining the Seine. The sun was setting in the distance, illuminating the Eiffel Tower with its dying light.

“You know, at first I didn’t think the Eiffel Tower was all that. But now, I’m starting to realize how beautiful it is.”

Sebastian casually draped an arm around my shoulders. “She is France’s pride and joy. Some might take her for granted, but I never forget how beautiful she is.”

I looked up and noticed he was staring at me the whole time he was saying that. I looked down, cursing my pale skin that was almost certainly turning the same hue as a lobster right now.

“Do you have any plans for this evening?” he asked.

“No. I’m free.”

“And tomorrow?”

I hesitated for only a heartbeat.

    I have enjoyed the dialogue and stories so far in this series. I love how you intermix the French and English. I took French in high school, so it’s been fun trying to translate.

    “I looked up and noticed he was staring at me the whole time he was saying that.” I love that part! I also love the dialogue going on here. It really is a great series you’ve got. Though the French baffles me cuz I only know what Ralph’s taught me or rather written on my arm.
