How Long I've Stayed [Music Challenge]

“Mind if I put on some music?” I ask.

There’s a bit of a sigh, “Okay, don’t turn it up too loud. I’m trying to get some work done.”

I slip in the CD, feeling up for a bit of mischief. She tries to ignore it, I know, but I see her tap her pencil along with the island style percussion. I slink quietly behind her, a soft hand on her shoulder.

“Remember this song?” I whisper before going for her neck.

I know she’s smiling when she says, “That was ten years ago, sweetie.” You learn over time that it’s not the words you say but how you say them. She kicks the floor spinning her office chair around to face me, a grin as wicked as my own on her face.

We kiss, and as Dave sings I’m right back in that college apartment, until, “Mom! Mom! Where are you? Oh, hi dad. Can I have more chocolate milk?”

Memories will have to wait, but hopefully not for long. I give my woman a kiss and go to get the aforementioned chocolate milk. Life goes on. Life is good. Guess I’ll just stay…for a while.
