Macy 36: Worth It

Macy closed her eyes again. It was much easier to tell the truth without looking someone in the eye. “Shane, you seem…you seem to like enjoy my pain or something, but yet you say you love me. So you love me so much to hurt me? I don’t understand you and you’re just so overpowering. Like no matter what, it’s your way or no way. And yet…I do love you.” Shane smiled smugly, and she added, “I hate that smile.” His face dropped clean.

“Wow, Macy. That was touching.” Shane teased, thinking he was already the one she picked.

“Derrick, you are amazing and sweet and…you helped me deal with Shane and Macon. I mean, I probably owe you so much for all the things you’ve done for me, but saying thank-you isn’t enough. And yet…I probably love you too, in a different way.” Macy didn’t glance up to see his reaction. “But, you guys, don’t you see what you’re doing? You’re fighting over me, not that I don’t enjoy it sometimes, but is this really worth it?” Macy began sobbing and asked, “Am I really worth it?”
