“You two walk very slow.” He scolds. Adelle and I just bow our heads, much to our discomfort, and keep them down until he has finished.
“Sorry, Sir.” I say, not looking him in the eye.
“Save it! Follow me. And stop all the rediculous nodding, you look like your having seizures.” He barks, walking briskly off to a door I hadn’t noticed before.
I give Adelle a small look of fear before we both take off after the man. No one had ever told us not to show respect to the higher ranks.. But then again, we had never been in this room before.
When we reach the door, the man had already disapeared inside. Adelle reached for the doorknob, but before she could grab it, the door swung open seemingly by itself.
I step inside with Adelle right behind me.
“Girls.” The man says, now sitting at the head of a long table. “Come and sit.”
We take the first available seats next to each other. Once we are seated, we turn our attention to the head of the table.
“Now, let us see how much you have learned.”
