She would need more firepower, that much was sure. Somewhere in the chaos, some other part of her was working, calculating, running the numbers.

Eddie had given her a name when all of this started.

“Two or three blocks from the complex,” he had said. “Ask for Spider. He’ll hook you up.”

She had a couple thousand dollars in the purse, but if this thing went bad – and she figured it would – that money wouldn’t do her any good.

She was careful to get by the buildings without being seen. She knew Joel usually had a few of his cronies outside keeping an eye on things and getting spotted would stop this thing right quick.

She found the liquor store that Eddie had mentioned. A couple of guys were outside smoking, doing it expertly, as if it’s all they did all day. They eyed her.

“I need to talk to Spider,” she said quickly.

“Say, baby, why don’t you just talk to me?” the larger man grinned.

She was fast. She jerked the pistol and shoved it into his face.

“I need Spider.”
