Somewhat Cinderella

We’ll start at the beginning of my twisted, somewhat Cinderella story. The boy who makes my heart jump wildly is Trey Strong. To make his name true, he’s captain of every sport in our high school and he’s not all that modest about it either. But Trey at school is different than Trey during the summer and he started to prove that when he handed me a pink rose. “Just for you,” he said and smiled with his straight white teeth.

Now going back to the whole “I don’t want a summer romance thing” is an important part of what happened next. Standing next to Trey was like standing next to a statue. And yet, I still looked up to his statue-self and threw the rose right back at him. “Sorry, it’s really for you.” I whispered in my sweetest voice before turning away.

Okay, so maybe it was for me, but I’m not about to give my heart out to just any random guy with a rose. He’ll have to make it worth my while. Or at least he’ll have to
acknowledge me, the real me first.

Which brings me to what happens next.

    My high school years were spent bouncing around through the different castes of the high school hierarchy. My least favorite group was definitely the “Trey” group. She did the right thing by throwing that rose back in his face. He definitely sounds like a guy who will be on “Cops” one day for domestic violence.

    I would go weak at the knees for a rose, but I do have to know the guy that gives me the rose and if he is my kind of guy. Good sequel, Trey is a interesting name.

    I love that line, “twisted, somewhat Cinderella story.” Sounds like my kind of fairy tale. Call me crazy.

    I’m not about to give my heart out to just any random guy with a rose. I thought that was a great line and was quite impressed she could resist a rose from the guy who makes her heart jump so wildly.

    I really like how you narrate the story.

    It fits really well with this sorta ficlet.
