What Does Your Bookshelf Say About You? (bookshelf challenge)

I look over at my bookshelf.

It houses all my favorite books and few treasured items. I notice you could learn a lot about me just by examining this one small corner.

Classics like Secret Garden, Little Women, Gulliver’s Travels, Jane Eyre, and Oliver Twist show my educated and refined side. Series’ like Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, Twilight, and Narnia show my love for fantasy and secret desire to be unique, more extroverted.

Photo albums show my bond to family, while my son’s piggy bank reflects my debt of service and love to my kids.

Dolphin figurines and little teacher apples show my hobbies, and a candle illuminates my romantic side and represents my inner glow.

So I’m wondering what your bookshelf looks like? What traits are found there? Is it neat and orderly, or haphazard? Do you strictly keep books there or do you house other items?

If you don’t have a bookshelf, what would it look like?

Basically, this is an exercise in symbolism. I challenge you to wrap your mind around this. :)

    Oh boy… What a challenge.. There is a “bookshelf” in EVERY room in my house. Plus, booktables, bookboxes, bookcabinets.. Never thought about all the books until this challenge came up. But I refuse to say that a “certain person” in my home is right: I do not have too many books. ;D

    My bookshelves are all packed in boxes for moving :( I’ll just have to recreate them from my memory.
