Kill These Memories [extended haiku sequel]

by THX 0477

Every day, I breathe
deep droughts of a life held back
Ere long I may not

Desire meets despair
A sad, monumental clash
Two paths and all that

Anger or pardon
To languish in pain or heal
Heart hates hand hates head

Foot past foot each step
One more day, one more reason
Quotidian wins

What else can I do
I will, I will, oh I will
Kill these memories

A despairing, painful sequel, in keeping with the prequel. Bonus points for hard words (Quotidian? come on!) and the use of “Ere”

There’s a sense of hope, of fighting back here that works well as a sequel. It’s almost as if she’s resolved to kill that which has been killing her. And if this were Scrabble, you’d totally win for use of the word “quotidian.” ;)

See? you can do poetry! (and you tried to convince us all you couldn’t in the Epic Challenge…)
All aside, this is beautiful. And I agree with the comments on the extended vocabulary. I’ve marveled at your word usage many a time in past works, and this is no different. (however, being a devil’s advocate at this moment, in this hypothetical Scrabble game of Ana’s and it was my turn, I’d follow it up with the word “qat.” Real word, it’s an evergreen shrub, I swear!)

This poem was piognant. I can’t spell, but I would try use it if I had my turn at this imaginary scrabble game. 5 stars.
