The Soldier 3 (A life gone but not forgotten)

Vacation, to bad he’s not here but the boy’s and Melanie are staying with us.
They ate lunch and reminisced for the rest of the afternoon.
After supper Evan helped the kid’s set off fireworks,
then they sat in the metal lawn chairs to star gaze.
Kids it’s time for bed. Ah grandma the kids whined.
It’s been a long day so go on up and brush your teeth.
They all when inside.
It’s been a long day for me too, Evan kissed his mom and hugged his dad and went up stairs.
Later that evening a knock on the door, two soldier’s stood at attention in full dress.
Are you Judith and David the parent’s of Evan David Ryan?
Yes.
The soldier said I’m sorry to inform you that your son has been killed in action, he handed Judith, Evan’s dog tags. She took the dog tags, read them,
clutched them to her heart.
She ran up the stairs stopped at the door to Evan’s room she turned the knob slowly and pushed the door open.
The bed was made the clothes still in the boxes everything was in it’s place.
Evan was gone.
