I like this one, it reminds me a bit of Nevil Shute’s “On the Beach” except that that one dealt with the end of civilization due to nuclear war.

That is beautiful. It actually wrenched at my heart a little to think that maybe one day it could happen and just how beautiful the world really is.

End actually sounds more peaceful than in any other end of the world senario id read or seen in films and tv.

Nice creative jump from the picture. I kind of like the idea of the last dregs of society all quietly biding their time together, placidly awaiting an inevitable end.

peaceful all the way trough, it makes you think what the end of the world will be like….i would want to be one of the people still on earth when it ends, just to see what it’s like.

This was indeed the very first ficlet. I wrote it before we even launched the site and liked it so much it was the first one I pasted in after we flipped the switch last year.

I didn’t know this existed until now. Duh, I should have realized this by typing in “1” after stories/, but I didn’t realize it until John Perkins pointed it out. Interesting, that the first ficlet is about the end of the world. That’s one cool pic, by the way.

Interesting, beautiful, emotional, descriptive…pretty much what we all strive for on this site with each post. Basically, you did a superb job of setting an example for us to follow. I’m pretty grateful that such a beginning, and such a place ever came into existence. Right on, Kev.
