The Girl With Wings
Cassandra knew that once people found out about her abnormalty everything would be corrupt. School was coming nearer and she had been hoping to start the year without being ridiculed. Unfortunately, that could never be.
Cassandra had grown wings.
As impossible as it may be, Cassandra had grown white feathery wings over the summer. They grew to their full size a weekend before school was starting, and Cassandra had no idea how she was going to hide them. Of course, the thought of going to school with wings was exhilarating. But she was already nerdy and geeky as it was, with her combat-like boots, long black skirt and maroon top. She wore large round glasses and her short brown hair settled on her shoulders.
“What am I going to do?” Cassandra asked herself, looking in the mirror.
“Honey, are you alright?” asked her mother from the outside of the bathroom.
“I’m fine, mom,” she replied. Looking in the mirror again, she knew she only had about a week to decide what she was going to do.
