L'Hopital

Scarlet’s foot was in mid-air when a pair of high beams lit up her face.
~
“Jeez. Is she up, yet?” Josiah looked at Holden. Scarlet sat straight up, straining the tubes in her arms, and causing her head to pound.
“Easy, Tiger.” Holden walked over and stroked her hair.
“What happened?” She pulled away from him.
“You practically got run over. I didn’t mean what I said.” His eyes pleaded for forgiveness.
“I’d rather not talk about it, Holden.” Josiah stood awkwardly in the corner.
“We have bigger problems,” he growled, pointing to the doorway.
“Yes, you do.” Agreed a distinctly familiar voice. Scarlet and Holden faced the old man.
“Dr. Lamb,” she spat.
“Thank you for introducing me, Scarlet. You’ve been very naughty, running away from me.”
“Stay there!” Holden roared.
“Oh, don’t worry. You’ll be coming with me. You see, I’ve checked Scarlet out of the hospital.”
