The Bluest Blue (XV)

Brian stared into the distance, processing this information. He was aware that a seed of doubt had crept into his mind. What if all this was true?

“It is, Brian. You’ll see, in time.”

“Hey, how come I can’t read your mind?”

Davenport smiled. “That was never your gift. Both Maddie and I can read minds. Your gift will come back to you eventually.”

“I’m guessing you won’t tell me what my gift is.”

“Your surmise would be accurate.”

“What was her name before? Then, I mean.”

“The same name she goes by now, Madeline, except she had a different surname, Deveaux.”

“Was she born with that name in this lifetime?”

“No, in this present time, she is known as Ashley Saunders, but she prefers being called Madeline.”

“She kept calling me David this morning…”

“Yes. In our previous lives, you were David Hughes and I was Charles Hughes, your younger brother.” Davenport suddenly stood up. “For now, let’s just leave things at that. I don’t want to overwhelm you with too much information.”
