Indiana Snow Storm
Drew walked down the long gravel driveway toward his 1971 green and white Ranger pickup truck. He hopped inside the cab and turned the ignition with a flick of his wrist, touching the gas lightly to warm the 390 cubic engine. Justin held the chopping ax by his thigh, staring down the gravel driveway as Drew pulled onto the ice covered pavement and headed toward Indiana highway 28. He pointed the nose of the truck North and then hit the gas, disappearing down the snowy country road.
Gusts of snow blew about the fields as Drew continued down the narrow road. Hardened snow drifts and clumps of ice thumped against the side of the truck, the rear end swerving from side to side out of control as Drew pulled onto highway 28. A nasty snowstorm was coming, and Drew knew he’d better make his trip to town a quick one. He accelerated slightly.
As he slowly pulled into the bank parking lot, the truck swerved again, barely missing Mr. Tipton’s Cadillac. He put the truck in reverse and backed into an open parking space.
