The Journey Onward
They continued on in the tunnel cautiously. They knew that at any given minute, that monster could pop out of no where, and when it did, every hope they had of escaping would be gone. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise that sounded like feet splashing through water.
“That must be the monster coming after us. But where is it coming from?” Said Abbie.
“I don’t know, but I don’t want to stick around to find out.” Said Alexia.
“Me either. It could be in any of the tunnels behind us. Lets keep on going.” Abbie replied.
“Good idea.” Alexia said in agreeance.
As they kept on goin, the sound got louder and louder, but as it got louder, it sounded more like the gentle splashing of water dripping from something high up. The girls looked up in an opening in the cave and saw a stalagtight with slow, steady drops of water falling from it. They felt silly thinking it was the monster coming after them, though they had honestly thought it was the monster coming from behind them. They laughed as they went on.
