Bad Girls Change Tenses Just Because They Can
“But…we can’t just go to a party!” Emma protested weakly. “You’re wearing my boyfriend! A little—well, okay, a lot of casual sex is one thing, but killing someone for a disguise—”
The demon snorted. “He’s not dead. He’s just…borrowed. I’ll let him go sooner or later. Look, you want to talk to him?” The demon’s borrowed face went slack, then its expression changed, looking dazed.
“Joel?” Emma said. “Can you hear me?”
“What happened?” Joel asked woozily. “Feels like…someone’s inside me. Under my skin. Wearing me.”
“You’re being possessed by a demon,” Hanna said helpfully.
Joel looked down. He blinked. His eyes widened. “What the hell?”
“He’s given you a bigger package too.”
Joel reached down into his pants and felt around a moment. “Y’know,” he mumbled. “I think onna whole, I’m okay with this.”
His face changed again as the demon resumed control. “All right, now that that’s settled—can we please go party?”
Emma and Hanna exchanged glances. “Guess we might as well,” Emma sighed.
