Flood of Sunshine
Sunshine flooded in the room in a wave of smothering blue/white/yellow incandescence. I watched the sunshine level rise rapidly from the baseboards to the doorknob.
Scrambling to save myself, I climbed chairs and tables and bookshelves, until finally I perched on top of a mahagony entertainment center as the too bright light neared the top of the door lintel.
Soon I couldn’t breathe, immersed over my head, suffocating in the gleaming luminescence that closed in around me, pulling me down into it.
It would not take long for the sunshine to finish its brutal job – ripping apart who I was to reform me into who I did not want to be.
