Grin and Bear It
“Noel, your mom’s really upset. I mean afterall, it isn’t everyday that she’s on daytime television.” Claire’s voice was an annoying drone on my answering machine.
I combed my hair, put on a suit. “Wouldn’t want to be called a bad sport, now would I?” I asked my mirror.
Chapter 2: The Second Reason. You will need to wear a suit if your mother is famous enough for Daytime T.V.
Claire smoothed my collar. “Wrong color,” she frowned. “Oh, well, I suppose it has to do.”
Ignoring her, I promptly asked where my mother was. Begrudgingly, she pointed to the door.
“What? No flowers?” Mom asked, as the makeup artist plucked her eyebrows.
“Haha. You know, I almost didn’t come.” I said, casually leaning against the doorpost.
“I know this is hard for you, Noel. Just grin and bear, ‘kay sweetie?”
