Only Jack
Ah, yes. Robert Frost. “Do I have miles to go before I sleep?” I posed the question to the book I was tentative to open. Inside would surely be another Post-It, with another clue…
Hah! Who’s good? I thought to myself, as there before me, as predicted, lay a little yellow square of paper.
Great, now it’s French! I thought. Then, searching frantically for cognates or at least something familiar, the words jumped out at me. Le Petit Prince.
Of course! But what about The Little Prince? I scrutinized the Post-It in my hand. 59. This had better be a page number!
So I ran to the Children’s section, thinking how strange it is that the library should place such a story there. Strangely appropriate. Upon locating it, I flipped to page 59, where there was a pink, heart-shaped sticky note under the little paragraph.
” ‘I’m beginning to understand,’ the little prince said. “There’s a flower…I think she’s tamed me.’ “
I hugged the tome and smiled to myself. Only Jack.
