The Diner Diaries: Alex vs. The Shoe
Alex stumbled his way towards Madge and Joe, seating himself next to Madge, who was trying with great effort to inconspicuously hide underneath the table. Alex put his arm around her and pulled her up to eye level.
“Madge! Hi!” He said like an excited child. His face was sweaty and it dripped down onto his aged Soul Coughing tshirt. Madge gagged at the smell of him.
“Don’t touch me!” She shrieked, recoiling into the farthest corner of the booth seat and kicked ferociously at Alex with her red converse hi-tops, the laces undone and swinging violently.
Joe laughed at the sight of them, mostly at the unguarded behavior of the usually moody and sarcastic Madge.
Madge managed to take off her right shoe and bludgeon Alex’s head after he tried to give her another smelly, drunken hug. He whimpered and slumped underneath the table in defeat.
“I think its gone,” Madge said pulling her legs up to her chest, looking around wildly and holding the sneaker midair.
