Mmm…Do you know anything about Stargate SG-1 and Ascension? (If not, wiki it) I think that might be a good course of action, as opposed to suicide, considering the amount of time that would take.

The Ascension thing seems kind of like a cop out to me… way too much of Deus Ex Machina. Simon’s on a heroic journey, which usually has the protagonist go through a metaphorical death and rebirth, but the line where metaphor was acceptable got crossed a while back. We literally turned Simon into God and he should have the full God experience.
