Definitely shocking and a lot of good story detail of back story along with what’s happening in the moment. I felt like her emotions were all over the place, and maybe that’s what you meant to do. Just an observation that she goes from a sort of self pity to anger to fear to can-do-itude (made up word, I know) to panic…which is all a pretty good arc of emotion.

I agree with THX ’s first sentence. Great back story and setting. I love the addition of the gun at the end and her faking having passed out; it brings suspense.

I also agree with THX …he said it all, so I won’t be repetitive. Great writing!
