With the oranges in one arm, Alexia began climbing back down to Abbie using her other arm.
“Here you go, Abbie.” Alexia said as she jumped down from the tree. “Eat as many as you like. I can always climb back up for more.”
“Thanks Alexia. I’m glad we finally got out of that cave. But how are we going to get home?” Abbie asked just before she took a big bite out of the orange.
The delicious taste swept over her taste buds as if she were eating candy for the first time.
“We’ll figure that out after we eat. Right now just concentrate on how much you want to eat.” Alexia said with a smile on her face.
It felt good to smile after two days with out a single trace of a happy feeling. She couldn’t help laughing at Abbie as she shoved her mouth full of one bite of orange after the other.
“What’s so funny?” Abbie asked.
“You’re eating. That’s what’s so funny.” Alexia giggled.
“Hey. You’re eating isn’t so pretty either.” Abbie jokingly retorted back. She giggled then continued eating.
