Fame: First Concert
“Thank you!” The crowd goes wild.
“She’s amazing, isn’t she?” Andrew says. He’s her manager. She’s his cash cow.
“Yeah,” I say like a good friend. “They love her.” I could practically hear him calculating how much this tour is going to earn him.
I turn and head to the buffet table. The stylists and makeup artists are pigging out and laughing. They’re not as interested in a teen pop star as they are by the free food.
“Thank you. Good night!” Kai takes a deep bow and blows a kiss into the air. The crowd continues to cheer wildly. The energy is crazy. The lights go down and Kai heads backstage right to me.
“How was I?” she asks gripping my arm nervously. This is her first concert.
“You are a star, baby girl!” Andrew interjects, grabbing her into a hug. He holds her at arm’s length. “You are going places, and I’ll make sure you reach your full potential.”
Okay, bub, you’re really laying it on thick I want to say. She hired you. Calm down.
Kai turns for my reaction. How do I say I deserve to be you right now?
