Religion: The Journey Back [2]
The woman heard sounds coming from the church sanctuary. Taking the flashlight she left the office where she had been typing up reports she went down the stairs to find the source of her distraction.
Her muscles tensed as she got closer unsure of what she would find. But she didn’t relax when she realized what the sound was – it was crying. She tried to figure out who it was without disturbing him or her.
It was Lily. She relaxed, but not much. Lily was a sweet girl but she didn’t know much about her. All she had learned was that she was troubled and not secure in her faith. She knew that poor Lily was depressed and had a difficult life with many trials in her path.
She approached the girl and took a seat behind her. Waiting for the perfect time she placed her hand on Lily’s back and whispered, “Do you want some company?”
The woman waited in the silence, praying for strength for what would come next. She wanted so much to help Lily, but she never knew what to do, what to say, never knew how to help.
