"Something's Going On"
2001 A.D.
27,000 feet above Shanksville, Pennsylvania
Brian Kehfler jumped from his doze as the plane did a sudden rocking motion. Turning to his left, he saw his older sister peering between seats, looking up front as if to see what was happening.
“What’re you looking at?” he mumbled, stretching his legs across the aisle.
Her slightly disturbed gaze still wavered up front. “I don’t know…Brian, something’s going on.”
“Hm?” Now it was his turn to look. There was a stifled unease circulating through the passengers, he could taste it. The air was thick with quieted muttering and even tearful phone calls.
The plane rocked again, more violently. Muffled shouts emanated from the pilot’s cabin.
“I’m going to go see what’s up,” Brian said, and started walking down the aisle towards the cockpit.
“Brian, no!” his sister whispered, but he kept on walking.
