At least it was earlier then usual. School was starting back up in a few days and Abby wanted to be able to functionat least a little. At 2:06 (Katelyn’s birthday) Abby fell asleep.
Friday (The next day.)
Abby was almost done with her book, Dreamland. She was just going to finish the chapter and then try to get some sleep. She had a bad day. There was no way to describe it, for some reason it was just a bad day, a day that left Abby sad.
The last line in the chapter was exactly this. “And when the police led him away, I pulled out of the hands of all these loved ones, sobbing, screaming, everything hurting, to try and make him stay.” This guy had beaten her, hurt her so much, but she loved him anyway and didn’t want him to leave.
Abby broke down. She cried. She hadn’t cried like this in years. It was the kind of crying that takes your breath, and when it is dead silent in your house, you have to work to not wake anyone up. During all this sobbing, Abby was thinking.
