The Trial Begins
April begins to tremble with anxiety, as she finishes her story. She starts to weep softly. The night is still fresh in her mind, and now she has to tell this horrible tale, in front of a jury.
“It will be ok April” Toni said as she rubbed her back. “Just answer the lawyers questions as best you can.” She continued.
April and her mother stand up and leave the room. They walk down the hall, closer to the courtroom. They join their lawyer on a bench. They wait for the judge to allow them in.
The bailiff motioned from them to enter the room. Toni took April’s hand and they walked up to their table along with their lawyer.
There they faced the judge behind the bench.
The judge began the trial.
April looks to her right and sees her father sitting there, wearing a suit, sitting next to his lawyer. In her mind, she wants to run up and hug him. But she knows better. April wants this all to be a bad dream. But sadly it is not. She starts to feel scared. But somehow, she knows that this is for the best.
