She always hated walking home, especially on days like today. In today’s case, it felt more like a battle. The mercury was barely reaching forty degrees, and it was raining just hard enough to be a pain in the ass. With one hand she futilely tried to shield herself with a lousy umbrella, and the other held a rapidly cooling cup of coffee, arms tucked in tight as an attempt to hold her jacket closed. Grumbling in frustration, she trudged along the dirty roads, the muddy water soaking through her shoes.

Just when she was tempting fate by complaining about how this situation couldn’t get any worse, a healthy breeze blew past her, snagging her umbrella and soaking her in the process. With a sigh, she tucked the umbrella away – no point in trying to stay dry when she was already soaked to the bone.

And thusly, she kept on trudging on through that relentless downpour. The further she walked, though, the calmer she became. Maybe rain wasn’t so bad, after all.
