My Youth: February, My 1st Winter
Naira and Kerem run off to go looking for a spot for a burrow. Kerem is expecting a fight for his territory and is keeping himself as fit as possible. They will return before night, with a spot planned out, and when spring comes, Kerem will fight for it if he must. Unique and I look for early growing plants for some sign that spring draws near. I cast a sideways glance at Unique. She is sniffing gingerly at the underneath of a rock. She looks about curiously, her unruffled fur moving sleekly as she walks. She glances at me, her head tilted to the side, as if asking me something. But I don’t know what she’s asking me. She turns away and lets out a small sigh. We go back to our homes.
