When Casey was four-years-old the woman locked her away in her room. The woman would be gone most of the day. All Casey had in the room with her were whatever leftovers there may be from the woman’s dinner the night before and a bottle of water.

Whenever the woman got home she would slam the door as she entered the house. Casey would go to the farthest corner from the door and curl into a ball.

The woman would enter Casey’s room and as soon as she saw the child cowering in the corner she began to yell at her that it was all Casey’s fault that she had not graduated from college.

Day after day, night after night this went on until Casey was about eight-years-old.
