Escape Plans
When Casey was a little older than eight she began to think that maybe she could escape from the room. Get away to a place where the woman could not find her.
She began to plan different ways of escape and try them during the day while the woman was away. She could break the window and try to jump to the ground below, but she wasn’t getting the enough nutrients from what little food the woman was feeding her. She was frail and would get terribly hurt or even killed jumping from the second story. She could try to yell for help from the neighbors, however she did not speak good English and did not know what to say.
Finally, Casey had a brilliant idea. She could use a paper clip that she had found in the dirt on the floor of her room and try to pick the lock.
