Caesar and His Box of Light

“M’lord Caesar, may I inquire as to what you are doing?”

“Nothing of import, Dausius.” replied the Roman Emperor as he tinkered with a box on a stand and small tubes.

Caesar sighed as he stared at his lifeless work. There was nothing to power this thing, but it had come to him in a dream, and he felt compelled to build it.

According to his dream, this invention would be the key to expanding his empire, by allowing communication and propaganda to be spread to the ends of the Earth.

What the dream didn’t say was how it was supposed to work, or how anyone but him could be able to make one.

But, if he could find some way to power this machine, it would revolutionize his Empire, and perhaps he could even rule the world through its hypnotizing light.
