The mother ship
I looked at Ashley with sincere eyes. She knew what I was thinking. She embraced me and started to cry.
“Ashley… I love you..”
She looked into my eyes, “I love you too…”
With that, I kissed her. “Get whoever’s left back to a transport ship, and if i’m not back in 20 minutes, leave without me.”
She gave me a sad look, and kissed me once more before going off to round up the last of our team.
Faulkner Reynolds approached me, “Duke, I’m goin’ in with ya.”
I couldn’t argue with him. He always had been with me, since the beginning of it all.
“Alright… ready?”
“As i’ll ever be.” he said with a tired look.
With that, we dashed out into the battle, if you could call it that. We ran faster than lighting, our hearts racing. We cleared the path by putting out a spray of death with our laser rifles. Then we saw the mother ship. We ran into the mass of Arvians, firing madly. Soon we were closed in, weapons of no use. Faulkner looked at me, “Duke, tell Peggy i love her.”
