Teressa: The Keeper of Secrets (Ana Cristina's Picture Challenge)

Sitting quietly on the shelf, Teressa looked down from her vantage point while the girls played with Barbies. As the generations passed before her glass eyes, she was glad the little girls she had seen grow into women respected her enough to place her at the top of the cabinet, out of reach of their own daughters.

Teressa watched the fifth generation of female Smiths. Of course, the first little girl she belonged to was not a Smith at all, but a Weisz. Adara Weisz was lucky enough to have had the blond hair and blue eyes, with perfectly measured features which Hitler had laid out for his so called doctors to seek while the cleansing was taking place. Teressa would have shuddered, if she weren’t a doll, remembering those days.

She watched over the little ones. As they grew into teenagers and could reach up to the higher shelves, she would be taken down and her hair would be smoothed gently as the story of the family history was told. Teressa was proud of where she came from and to where she was going.
