Jared's Partee
“So he doesn’t really know anything?” Lexi asked.
“Nope,” I beamed with relief, “nothing at all!”
Lexi sighed and smiled, “What a fricking relief!”
“Yeah, you’re not kidding!” I agreed.
We were walking out of homeroom and across the hall to our next class.
Lexi and I both saw Jared walking out of his last class.
“Lexi,” Jared saw her.
“Yeah?” she prompted.
“You’re coming to my house on Friday…” he told her.
I was so stoked at the sound of this.
“I am?” Lexi asked.
“Yeah, you and your whole family are,” he explained.
“Why?” Lexi asked.
I giggled at the tone in Lexi’s voice.
She had made it sound as if she didn’t want to go over to Jared’s house at all.
“Because my parents decided to have a party or whatever,” he went on, “and they invited your family.”
“Okay,” Lexi dismissed him.
Just as he left, he and I made eye contact.
“Hey, Sierra,” he smiled.
“Hi, Jared,” I think I blushed.
Then when he was out of earshot I said to Lexi, “I am so coming with you this Friday!”
She laughed, “Duh!”
