Soon

“Hannah,” I watched her eyes get that same blank look they got whenever I tried to reason with her and she sat there just like every other time, letting me beg, whine, and yell at her. “Will you just listen?”

“I am.”

I shook my head and turned around to start pacing again but stopped dead in my tracks. “Hello, Tony,” I spit out coldly.

“Why, hello, Amy,” he grinned cruelly but his eyes were just as cold and unsmiling as mine. He whipped his head around to where Hannah sat and the cruel smile lit his eyes, “Home. Now. Mom said dinner’s ready.” He glared at me once again before stalking away. When he was out of sight I collapsed onto the chair. I was ashamed of myself for being afraid of him but I was glad I didn’t show it to him at least.

“Amy.” I turned my head to her hopefully but it was in vain. She opened her mouth to say something, stopped, then opened it again with a pained expression in her eyes, “I have to go.”

Watching her walk away I knew I needed to do something.

Soon.
