Not This Time
“But I saw them!”
“I’m sure you did, Amy,” officer Luke repeated tiredly. I paced back and forth thinking quick. “Amy, there’s nothing you can say, even if it is true! Tony and Michael weren’t even awake when we got in the room-”
“How can you be sure! I’m a teenager and I know how to pretend to sleep! It’s the oldest trick in the book!” Luke looked back at me and I knew I wouldn’t win. Not this time at least. “Fine.” I stalked out of the room with my chin up and violently scuffed my shoes on the rug at the threshold of the room as if to wipe the dirt of the place off my shoes. I knew it was time for a new plan.
Walking back to my house I racked my brains for an idea. I knew that this couldn’t continue to Hannah’s body or health.
I stopped in my tracks, torn between two decisions. I had thought of a plan but it might be the difference between me and Hannah being hurt. An image of Hannah passed in front of my eyes and I whipped out my cell, “Hey, Hannah? Do you want to spend the night at my house?”
