Our Song

“Once I got to the party, well, I still wasn’t enjoying myself. The guys convinced me to have a drink, a fruit ‘smoothie’ and me, being depressed and stupid, accepted.Carson went and made the ‘smoothie’ adding his own little touch of hard liquor, that he somehow made tasteless. Either that or I was just completely out of it. They claim that it was just to get me to loosen up a little and they weren’t expecting it to have quite the effect it did.Anyway, as you know, I ended up dirty dancing with Emily and the next day I saw her making fun of another girl for running away from something beyond her comfort zone.A trait in a girl that I would kill for.”
He sat down beside me.
“And I found you.”
I pulled him close and he held onto me in a tight embrace.
“I know this sounds bad, but I’m so glad Dianda wasn’t right for you.”
Wes smiled, “And I’m glad Blake wasn’t right for you.”
I smiled and whispered a line of a song I’d just remembered, “God bless the broken road.”
He answered, “That led me straight to you.”
